Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to apply statistical and epidemiologic methods to identify trends and opportunities for Medicare Advantage analytics.

You will design studies, analyze large datasets, and translate findings into actionable insights for clinical and business partners. The role requires advanced data skills (SQL, SAS, Python), collaboration with clinicians, and a strong healthcare interest.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent in a quantitative field required.
• Ability to write code to create analytical datasets and variables from large data environments.
• Experience applying research methods to transform data into insights.

Responsibilities

• Do exploratory analysis on populations, trends, and clinical conditions to inform opportunities.
• Collaborate with clinicians to define clinical concepts and extract information from claims for analytics and modeling.
• Leverage descriptive and epidemiologic methods to study data.
• Design outcomes studies and perform program evaluation using RCTs, propensity matching, or difference-in-difference methods.
• Conduct literature reviews to assess engagement and treatment effects of early-stage interventions.
• Write SQL, SAS, and Python to assemble data, create variables, and build models for research use.
• Translate analytic results into key takeaways and communicate with business partners.
• Understand strategy and operating objectives and their linkages to related areas.
• Make research-method decisions, sometimes in ambiguity with guidance.
