Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to join the Clinical Innovation and Trend Analytic Team. The role focuses on applying statistical and epidemiologic methods to identify trends and size opportunities for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.

You will collaborate with clinicians, design outcomes studies, and code in SQL/SAS/Python to produce analytics and actionable insights for stakeholders. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a quantitative field such as Epidemiology or Biostatistics.
• 2+ years writing SQL, SAS, and Python to create analytical datasets.
• Experience applying research methods to transform large data into insights.
• Experience with randomized controlled trials, propensity matching, or difference-in-difference methods.
• Strong interest in healthcare and ability to communicate results to business partners.

Responsibilities

• Do exploratory analysis on populations, trends, and clinical conditions to inform opportunities for trend savings and outcomes improvement.
• Collaborate with clinicians to extract clinical information from medical, pharmacy, and lab claims for analytics.
• Use descriptive and epidemiological methods to analyze data.
• Design outcomes studies and program evaluations using RCTs, propensity matching, and quasi-experimental methods.
• Review literature and intervention research to assess engagement rates and treatment effects.
• Write code in SQL, SAS, and Python to assemble data, create analytical variables, and build models for research use-cases.
• Translate analytic results into actionable insights and communicate to business partners.
