Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to advance clinical insights through high-volume data analysis and rigorous study designs.

You will work with strategy partners and clinicians to shape clinical initiatives and improve outcomes for Medicare Advantage members. You will design and implement analyses across populations, leveraging SQL, SAS, and Python, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for business partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Economics, Statistics, Clinical Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience with SQL, SAS, and Python to create datasets and analytics variables.
• Experience applying research methods to transform large data into actionable insights.
• Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental methods (RCTs, propensity matching, DiD).
• Strong interest in healthcare and collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory analysis on populations, trends, and clinical conditions to identify opportunities for outcome improvement and cost savings.
• Collaborate with clinicians to define clinical concepts and extract information from medical, pharmacy, and lab claims.
• Apply descriptive and epidemiological methods to analyze data.
• Design and evaluate outcomes studies using randomized or quasi-experimental methods.
• Review literature and assess engagement and effect sizes of interventions in early design stages.
• Write SQL, SAS, and Python to assemble data, create variables, and design visuals and models.
• Translate results into actionable insights for business partners.
