Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to apply statistical and epidemiologic methods to large data sets, informing clinical outcomes and cost savings for Medicare Advantage members.

You will collaborate with clinicians and strategists to shape Humana’s clinical initiatives and use SQL, SAS, and Python to build analytic models. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in a quantitative field and has 2+ years transforming data into actionable insights, with experience in experimental

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field (epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, statistics, clinical informatics, engineering).
• 2+ years creating datasets and analytics variables from large data using SQL, SAS and Python.
• Applying research methods to transform data into actionable insights.
• Experience with experimental or quasi-experimental designs (RCTs, matching, DiD).
• Strong interest in healthcare and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory analysis on populations, trends, and conditions to identify opportunities for savings and outcomes improvement.
• Collaborate with clinicians to extract clinical information from medical, pharmacy, and lab claims for analytics and modeling.
• Apply descriptive and epidemiological methods to analyses.
• Design outcomes studies and evaluate programs using randomized trials, matching, or DiD.
• Review literature and assess engagement rates and effect sizes of early-stage interventions.
• Write SQL, SAS, and Python to assemble data, create variables, and build models and visuals.
• Translate results into actionable insights and communicate with business partners.
• Understand organizational strategy and how analytics link to objectives.
