Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to apply statistical and epidemiologic methods on large datasets, inform strategy, and communicate insights to business partners. The role supports the Clinical Innovation and Trend Analytic Team in improving clinical outcomes and lowering costs for Medicare Advantage members.

You will write code in SQL, SAS, and Python, conduct design and evaluation of studies, and translate results into actionable recommendations for healthcare strategy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Economics, Statistics, Clinical Informatics, Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience writing SQL, SAS and Python to create datasets and analytical variables.
• Experience applying research methods to transform large data into actionable insights.
• Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental methods such as RCTs, propensity matching, or diff-in-diff.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory analyses on populations, trends, and clinical conditions to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with clinicians to define concepts and extract clinical information from medical, pharmacy, and lab claims.
• Utilize descriptive and epidemiological methods to analyze data.
• Design outcomes studies and evaluate programs using randomized trials or quasi-experiments.
• Review literature and assess engagement and treatment effects of interventions.
