Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% remote, U.S.-based position. The role demands deep expertise in quantum algorithms, PQC, and cryptographic standards to support a Federal Government client.

You will implement and test cryptographic algorithms, guide PQC migration, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with NIST standards while communicating complex quantum risks to leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography in large orgs or government-like environments
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms and information theory
• Experience with quantum programming languages and frameworks
• Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography and NIST PQC standards
• Experience with cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790)
• Ability to communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Willingness for occasional travel and U.S. Citizenship
• Security clearance: Public Trust -- Level 4

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms
• Advise on PQC migration plans and PQC implementation
• Assess cryptographic inventory and set migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to leadership
• Provide guidance for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards
