Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a remote, full-time role supporting a Federal Government client. The position requires 10+ years of IT experience with quantum cryptography, a strong background in quantum information science, and U.S. citizenship.

Candidates should be proficient in Python, C++, and Java, with experience in PQC migrations and NIST standards. This is a remote, 100% U.S.-based role with a Public Trust level 4 security clearance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography in large orgs or government
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory
• Experience with PQC standards and post-quantum crypto
• Familiarity with NIST/ISO cryptographic standards and frameworks
• Knowledge of cryptographic modernization and migration planning

Responsibilities

• Develop and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java
• Advise on migration plans to quantum-resistant algorithms and PQC implementation
• Assess cryptographic inventories and set migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Contribute policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards
