Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% remote, full-time Federal Government client engagement. The role requires senior-level expertise in quantum mechanics, cryptography, and post-quantum cryptography (PQC), with a Public Trust—Level 4 clearance.

You will implement cryptographic algorithms in Python/C++, guide PQC migration strategies, assess inventory, and communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership while ensuring alignment with NIST

Qualifications

10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography in large org or government.
Master's degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
Experience with PQC frameworks and standards (NIST, FIPS, ISO 19790).
Ability to communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms.
Advise on quantum resistant algorithm migration plans and PQC implementation.
Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities.
Collaborate with teams to communicate quantum risk to leadership.
Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards.
