Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to act as the technical lead for engineering activities in substation protection & control/automation projects. The role supports remote work with preference for candidates located in Northern California.

You will develop schematics, logic diagrams, layouts, BOMs, and calculations, while coordinating with project teams and ensuring safety and standards compliance across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Master's Degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in protection & control projects for utility customers.
• PE License in California is required.
• Candidates must have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering design activities for substation protection & control/automation systems.
• Develop engineering documentation and analyses to support designs.
• Manage project materials, design packages, and technical issue resolution.
• Ensure safety practices and standards compliance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
