Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to act as the technical lead for engineering activities in projects across utility, industrial, and commercial substations. This full-remote role prefers candidates in Northern California, with responsibilities including design leadership, documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The candidate will develop schematics, layouts, BOMs, and calculations, while ensuring safety and standards compliance across all engineering workstreams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in protection & control projects for utility customers.
• Ability to read, correctly interpret, and apply electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.
• PE License in California required.
• Candidates must already have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and act as the technical lead for engineering activities in assignments across disciplines.
• Develop engineering documentation, analyses, and BOMs to support design.
• Manage project materials and design packages, providing status updates to teams and customers.
• Ensure safety, standards, and customer requirements are met while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
