Job summary

SOLV Energy is hiring a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety systems across utility-scale solar, storage and substation projects. This fully remote role requires expert guidance, standards setting, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure code compliance and safe, cost-effective delivery.

The role emphasizes leadership with Owners, engagement with AHJs and insurers, and oversight of EORs and third-party vendors while supporting project testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or related field.
• Requires at least 10 years in fire protection with energy infrastructure experience.
• P.E. license is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855.
• Experience coordinating with AHJs, fire marshals and insurers.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code and standards committees and interface with AHJs.
• Oversee BESS fire protection system design, budgets, and schedules.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure design consistency.
• Travel to attend in-person meetings as required.
