Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to serve as the technical authority for fire and life safety systems on utility-scale solar, energy storage, and HV substations nationwide. The role is fully remote, with location details discussed during interview.

You will provide SME guidance, establish engineering standards, and lead national committees, coordinating with AHJs, insurers, and third-party EOR firms to ensure regulatory compliance and project success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience, with energy infrastructure exposure.
• Proven ability to work with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials to secure approvals and permits.
• Strong understanding of fire protection engineering principles and codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME guidance on fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Lead standards development and participate in national fire protection code committees.
• Oversee fire protection design for energy storage and substations from design through commissioning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical and SCADA teams for design consistency.
• Travel up to 25% to attend in-person meetings and site reviews.
