Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to act as the technical authority for fire and life safety across energy storage, power, and EPC projects. This fully remote role ensures compliance with codes, standards, insurance requirements and client specs from concept to commissioning.

Lead engineering standards, interface with AHJs and insurers, manage third-party EORs, and drive cost-effective design with cross-functional teams across time zones.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• 2+ years of energy infrastructure experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• P.E. license preferred.
• Experience with AHJs, permitting, reviews and inspections.
• Knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL 855 and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME guidance on complex fire safety challenges.
• Establish engineering standards, design criteria and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees for energy storage topics.
• Serve as primary interface with AHJs, fire marshals, insurers and engineers.
• Oversee fire protection EORs, budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA to ensure design consistency.
• Support fire system testing and commissioning.
