Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety across utility-scale storage and industrial EPC projects. This fully remote role requires coordination with AHJs, insurers, and engineers, with travel up to 25% for in-person meetings.

The role emphasizes standards-setting, design oversight, and collaboration with electrical/SCADA disciplines to optimize cost and performance from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience, including energy infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
• Experience working with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials for permits and approvals.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and industry standards (NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855).
• Ability to travel up to 25% and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for fire protection across energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects.
• Set company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead or participate in national fire protection code committees and liaise with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Oversee fire protection design for cost, performance, and constructability.
• Develop basis-of-design documents and scopes of work for 3rd party EORs and vendors.
• Mentor and train SOLV team; collaborate with electrical/SCADA disciplines.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
