Job summary

Intuit, through SelectTime, seeks a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to guide the Payroll Tax Operations team in Columbus, OH. You will own complex tax escalations, govern SOPs, and coach the team to higher performance.

This hourly, non-exempt role offers overtime eligibility with a minimum 20 hours per week and potential up to 40 hours. You will serve as the primary resource for TP1-TP3 staff, ensure audit-ready documentation, and drive capacity planning under the M1 manager.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching/mentoring junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax regulations across US jurisdictions and local tax systems.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Ownership of SLAs and proactive issue resolution.
• Experience handling sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 5+ years in contact center, customer service, or back-office operations.
• Comfort with leveraging AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the real-time go-to technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; recommend staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and multistate amendments.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate with leadership.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed options.
