Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) to steer critical team initiatives and independently resolve the most complex escalations. This hourly, non-exempt role offers flexible hours and overtime pay while driving SOP governance and workforce capability across the PTO team.

You will coach staff, approve complex filings, and ensure audit trails, WIP control, and data-driven improvements in a fast-paced payroll tax environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution
• Experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME with mentoring
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regs incl. local taxes (PA, OH)
• Strong writing skills for SOPs/technical docs
• Ownership of SLAs and red-flag detection
• Ability to handle highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance
• 5+ years in contact center/back-office ops supporting high volumes
• Comfort using AI tools to improve team workflows

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff
• Own SOP authoring, review, and approval
• Conduct quarterly coaching using SBIC feedback model
• Lead or support team huddles and stand-ups
• Oversee WIP management, backlog, aging reports; advise staffing
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across state/federal levels
• Approve complex amended tax returns with audit trails
• Identify trends and risks; propose data-driven responses
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings; maintain compliance and risk controls
