Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) to drive complex payroll tax work and governance. You will own escalations, author SOPs, coach team members, and collaborate across tax operations to maintain accuracy and compliance.

The role emphasizes real-time expertise, structured coaching, and leadership in process improvements, with a focus on cross-functional risk management and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution, notice response, and multi-state amendments.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching/mentoring.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions; local municipal tax systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff; resolve complex questions and teach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and Daily Stand-Ups as needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs to management.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices (IRS/state); ensure audit trails and ledger reconciliation.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with proper documentation.
• Identify trends and known issues; communicate with leadership with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings; uphold compliance and risk management.
