Intuit seeks a Lead Tax Processor and SME to own and resolve the most complex payroll tax escalations. You will govern SOPs, review KBs, and coach the team quarterly to close skill gaps while maintaining strong compliance.

The role requires leadership in high-stakes environments and frequent cross-functional interaction. You will manage WIP and aging reports, drive process improvements, and review multi-state filings with precision.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with focus on complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with mentoring or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US tax regulations including local municipal and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents for a tax processor audience.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive resolution of workflow barriers.
• Experience handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume service needs.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or backstop team huddles and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states and taxpayers.
• Approve complex amended returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) with audit trails.
• Identify risks and trends and communicate with stakeholders.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
