Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator I on a Per Diem basis to support scheduling for treatments and referrals, maintaining continuity of care, and building trusted relationships with patients. Shifts are Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm, with 1-2 days onsite monthly at South Lake Union; pay ranges from $31.06 to $44.21 per

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently, organize, and prioritize concurrent responsibilities and demand
• Proficient in MS Word, email, and data entry in Windows-based environment
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs
• Ability to work in high pressure, deadline oriented healthcare environment

• Ability to build relationships while maintaining boundaries
• Attention to detail to ensure scheduling accuracy

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment within Fred Hutch and outside consults, coordinating with other departments for efficient patient flow.
• Works closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs, answer questions, resolve problems, provide information, and follow up.
• Update patient and caregiver contact information in EHR when needed.
• Communicates with providers, technologists, and nurses regarding scheduling needs and treatment schedule.
• Manages and prioritizes scheduling requests.
• Recognizes emergency situations and initiates correct code procedures.
• Supports department functions and may take on cross-coverage or special projects.
• Assists with training of new staff
• Updates provider templates for just-in-time needs
• Triages calls from referring physicians, patients, families, and others seeking care
• Collects and enters patient demographic and insurance information into registration databases
• Assists with financial clearance as necessary
• Distributes work to Program Assistant and/or Patient Care Coordinator Assistant
