Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, based in Seattle, is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to act as a professional liaison for patients, families, and care teams. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize concurrent responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a high pressure healthcare environment.
• Active listening and empathy in interactions.
• Strong communication in person, phone, and writing.
• Attention to detail for scheduling accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Direct and monitor patient location within the clinic/unit.
• Greet and screen patients; check in using scheduling system.
• Schedule surveillance appointments, labs, imaging, and return visits.
• Arrange Same-Day lab appointments as needed.
• Distribute appropriate paperwork to patients and staff.
• Triage questions from callers and route to appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with patients, families, providers, and staff to identify needs.
• Notify providers and other parties of patient needs and requests.
• Recognize emergencies and initiate code procedures as required.
• Verify insurance coverage and referrals in the EMR before appointments.
• Support department functions and cross-cover as needed.
• Assist with training of new staff.
