Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding aligned with documentation.

You will maintain high accuracy, adhere to APC sequencing, and meet productivity standards while working from your own workspace. Ideal candidates have AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 3+ years in hospital coding, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 3+ years of hospital coding or coding consulting experience.
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions, and ED coding.
• Strong written and verbal communication, remote-work adeptness, and time management.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Sequence codes correctly based on documentation.
• Determine discharge dispositions appropriately.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting.
• Highlight documentation improvement opportunities to relevant teams.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy, meet productivity targets.
