Job summary

Datavant, a healthcare data collaboration platform, seeks an experienced outpatient coder for a fully remote role. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure accurate APC and data entry for reporting.

The position emphasizes accuracy, ongoing education, and collaboration with hospital teams. Required credentials (AHIMA or AAPC), 3+ years hospital coding experience, and proficiency with common coding scopes.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 3+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions.
• Proficiency with Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, adeptness in remote work, and time management.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Must take and pass annual HIPAA examinations and related testing.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and improvement opportunities to relevant staff.
• Maintain high accuracy in coding and APC assignment, meeting productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings.
