Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join a fully remote team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of outpatient coding experience, AHIMA or AAPC credentials, and proficiency with ED, I&I, and APC/E/M leveling. Experience with Epic and Clintegrity is strongly preferred.

This PRN role focuses on accurate coding, documentation improvement, and adherence to HIM policies. You will work from a home setup with flexible scheduling while contributing to hospital coding accuracy,

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC) required.
• 2+ years of outpatient coding experience in hospital or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency in same day surgery, observation, injections/infusions; ED, E/M leveling proficiency desired.
• Experience with Epic and Clintegrity strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation and assign discharge dispositions.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues and opportunities for documentation improvement to the team.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and productivity per site standards.
