Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. The role emphasizes accurate diagnosis and procedure coding across multispecialty charts, with a focus on ED, injections/infusions, and ancillary services.

EPIC and 3M experience is preferred, along with strong attention to detail and time management. 2+ years of hospital coding experience, RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CRC credentials, and the ability to work in a fully remote setting are required.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC).
• Minimum 2+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• Experience with facility ED, injections/infusions, and Ancillary services.
• Familiarity with EPIC and 3M coding platforms preferred.
• Strong communication and ability to work remotely with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Review records and assign diagnoses and procedures.
• Code and sequence based on documentation.
• Determine discharge disposition.
• Abstract data for statistics and reporting.
• Communicate improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Maintain high accuracy in coding and APC assignments.
• Track continuing education credits and participate in training.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and management.
• Adhere to AHIMA code of ethics.
• Be customer-service oriented and professional.
