Job summary

Datavant seeks an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding with 95% accuracy targets.

Expect collaboration with hospital staff and ongoing education while maintaining compliance with AHIMA ethics and privacy standards. You will work from a home setup with flexible scheduling, supporting hospital coding and data abstraction across our healthcare ecosystem.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC).
• Minimum 2+ years of hospital coding or coding consulting experience.
• Proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions; E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work remotely and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation; determine discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities to relevant teams.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant health-sponsored education meetings and trainings.
• Communicate with management and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork; adhere to HIM policies.
