Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full time remote opportunity. The role centers on rehosting Oracle databases from on-premises infrastructure to AWS, ensuring operational readiness, security, and performance post-cutover.

Responsibilities include end-to-end migration leadership, discovery, assessment, and the creation of runbooks, validation checklists, and handover documentation while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience including migration responsibilities.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS or other cloud environments; AWS rehost preferred.
• Knowledge of Oracle RAC or clustered configurations and related dependencies.
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, and Data Pump.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle DBs from on-premises to AWS, focusing on rehost to EC2.
• Assess versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, dependencies, and backup/recovery configurations.
• Define migration approaches, prerequisites, cutover sequences, rollback plans, and handover procedures.
• Configure Oracle DB environments on AWS EC2, including installation, creation, networking, storage, and patching.
• Perform schema/data migration with RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces, or GoldenGate as appropriate.
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, and post-cutover stabilization with validation checks.
