Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full-time remote opportunity. The Oracle DBA Lead will manage the complete migration lifecycle, focusing on rehosting Oracle databases to AWS EC2 while ensuring performance, security, and recoverability after cutover.

The role requires extensive Oracle, RAC, and AWS experience, including RMAN, Data Pump, GoldenGate, and Data Guard, with strong leadership and stakeholder coordination across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience including production support and migration responsibilities.
• Strong administration experience with Oracle 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c, and preferably 21c on Windows/Linux/Unix.
• Demonstrated experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS or another cloud; hands-on AWS rehost experience preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of EC2, EBS, VPC networking, security groups, IAM, monitoring, and backups for Oracle workloads.
• Experience with Oracle RAC or clustered databases and with Goldengate, Data Guard, transportable tablespaces, and near-zero-downtime migration patterns.
• Experience with Oracle EM and AWS monitoring/observability tools; expertise in installation, patching, tuning, backup/recovery, and RCA documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, primarily rehost to Oracle DB on EC2.
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, dependencies, and backups.
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, target sizing, cutover sequence, rollback, and handover.
• Build/configure Oracle environments on AWS EC2 with network, storage layout, tuning, and access control.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces, Data Guard, or GoldenGate.
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, connectivity changes, validation, and post-cutover stabilization.
• Provide hypercare support for issues across availability, performance, backups, and RAC-related dependencies.
• Create migration runbooks, validation checklists, rollback procedures, and SOPs.
