Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full-time remote opportunity. The Oracle DBA Lead will own end-to-end migration from on‑prem to AWS, focusing on rehost to EC2 while ensuring performance, security, and post-cutover stability.

Required: 8+ years Oracle DBA experience, Oracle RAC, RMAN/Data Pump/GoldenGate, and strong coordination with security, networking, and applications teams. AWS knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years Oracle DBA experience including production support and migration responsibilities.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases from on‑premises to AWS or another cloud environment; hands-on AWS rehost experience preferred.
• Knowledge of RMAN, Data Pump, and GoldenGate.
• Familiarity with Oracle RAC and Enterprise Manager/monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases to AWS, primarily rehost to Oracle Database on EC2.
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, and dependencies.
• Define the migration approach for each database, including prerequisites, target sizing, outage requirements, cutover sequence, rollback plan, and operational handover.
• Build and configure Oracle database environments on AWS EC2, including installation, creation/restore, networking, storage layout, tuning, backup integration, and access controls.
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, transportable tablespaces, Data Guard, or GoldenGate depending on size and downtime tolerance.
• Plan and execute mock migrations, production cutovers, application connectivity changes, validation, and post-cutover stabilization.
• Provide limited-duration post-go-live hypercare, rapid triage, RCA, remediation, and issue resolution across availability, performance, backups, and apps.
• Create and maintain migration runbooks, validation checklists, rollback procedures, SOPs, and known-errors.
