Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle DBA Lead to migrate on-premises Oracle databases to AWS, focusing on rehost to EC2 while ensuring recovery, security, and performance. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle from discovery to post-migration stabilization.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience, strong RAC, GoldenGate, RMAN, and Data Pump skills, and superb communication for cross-team coordination. Remote role with enterprise-scale responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on Oracle DBA experience in production support and migration
• Experience with Oracle 11g/12c/18c/19c and ideally 21c across Windows, Linux/Unix
• Demonstrated experience migrating Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS or other cloud environments
• Hands-on knowledge of EC2, EBS, VPC networking, security groups, IAM, monitoring, and backup considerations for Oracle workloads
• Experience with Oracle RAC and high-availability configurations
• Experience with GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Data Pump, and cross-platform migrations
• Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager and cloud monitoring tools such as CloudWatch
• Strong documentation, rollout planning, cutover coordination, and post-migration stabilization

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-premises to AWS, rehost to EC2
• Perform discovery and assessment of versions, editions, OS, storage, interfaces, dependencies
• Define migration approach, prerequisites, sizing, outage requirements, cutover sequence
• Build and configure Oracle databases on AWS EC2 including installation and network setup
• Execute schema and data migration using RMAN, Data Pump, GoldenGate, or Data Guard
• Plan mock migrations, production cutovers, connectivity changes, validation, rollback
• Provide post-go-live hypercare and rapid triage for issues across components
• Create and maintain runbooks, validation checklists, rollback procedures, SOPs
• Coordinate with application, AWS cloud, network, security, storage, OS, and business teams
• Provide technical leadership for complex incidents and knowledge transfer
