Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Oracle – On Prem to AWS Migration Architect for a full time remote opportunity. The Oracle DBA Lead will own end-to-end migrations, from discovery through post-migration stabilization, focusing on rehosting Oracle databases to AWS EC2 while ensuring performance, security and operability after cutover.

Required are 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience, RAC, GoldenGate, RMAN/Data Pump, and strong AWS knowledge.

Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience including production support and migrations.
Experience migrating Oracle databases from on-prem to AWS or other cloud environments.
Hands-on knowledge of EC2, EBS, VPC, security groups, IAM, and AWS monitoring for Oracle workloads.
Oracle RAC or clustered database experience and related dependencies.
Experience with Oracle GoldenGate, transportable tablespaces, Data Guard, and near-zero-downtime patterns.
Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager and observability tools like CloudWatch.
Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery in AWS.
Ability to diagnose Oracle issues via logs, AWR/ASH, and traces.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end migration of Oracle databases from on-prem to AWS (rehost to EC2).
Plan and execute mock migrations, production cutovers, and post-cutover stabilization.
Coordinate with application, network, security, storage, and operations teams during migration.
Provide limited post-go-live hypercare and rapid triage for issues.
Create runbooks, checklists, rollback procedures, and transition documentation.
