Job summary

Cox Automotive in Midland, TX is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, PMs, and light-to-mid repairs on fleets in a mobile/field setting.

You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, manage parts on the service vehicle, and document findings using TRAIT. Day shift, 7am–5pm, with weekend work possible; remote work options are available if you reside in the area.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck systems including electrical, braking, cooling, starter/alternator, engine electronics, and transmissions.
• Diagnose, adjust and repair electrical/braking/cooling systems, engine electronics, diesel steering, and related components.
• Inspect and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify repairs.
• Independently manage parts inventory and operate company vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs, provide information, resolve issues, and manage expectations.
• Manage multiple tasks with effective prioritization of work and time allocations.
• Use hand tools and diesel-specific equipment, welding gear, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work and parts used on Repair Orders via TRAIT app on company-issued device; complete DOT forms timely.
• Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times; obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
• Coordinate with management and support to obtain approvals on repair estimates and PO numbers.
