Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Associate Territory Manager for Middle Market Business Development in Commercial Lines, focused on California. You will manage a renewal book and new business with personal underwriting authority, driving profitable growth through agencies.

The role supports complex commercial lines across Manufacturing, Wholesale/Distribution, Real Estate, Retail, and Food Service, with a strong emphasis on agency partnerships and territory development.

Qualifications

• Multi-line commercial insurance underwriting experience, including underwriting authority.
• A passion for driving profitable growth through agency engagement.
• Underwriting experience with accounts larger than 100k in the DWP Industry segment (Manufacturing, Wholesale/Distribution, Real Estate, Retail, and/or Food Service & Accommodation).
• Insurance designations or coursework, such as CPCU, CIC, AU.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new business, renewals and endorsements based on authority level and appetite.
• Reviews risks and ensures acceptability per guidelines and standards.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with agencies, producers and key groups.
• Manages workflow and prioritizes assigned underwriting work to meet SLAs.
• Participates in agency visits to develop new accounts and grow business.
