Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Medical Records Coder II for a 100% remote role. You will code using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4, review colleagues' work, and support ongoing education. The position requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certs with strong DRG/APC reimbursement knowledge.

High school diploma required; two years of coding experience preferred. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered, paid in four installments over 24 months. Remote workers must reside in eligible states.

Qualifications

• Certification in one of RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D is required or preferred.
• High school diploma required; RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certifications strongly desired.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions essential.
• Strong understanding of DRG/APC reimbursement concepts.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions.
• Coordinate and review work of subordinate staff and assist training.
• Ensure accurate DRG/APC assignment and optimal reimbursement.
• Consult with physicians and communicate documentation needs.
