Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or HCS-D certifications active.
• High school diploma required.
• Two years of coding experience required for some certifications (CPC or HCS-D).
• Experience with ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 coding conventions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions.
• Coordinate/review the work of designated employees and assist with training.
• Ensure DRG/APC assignment is accurate.
• Abstract data from medical records for optimal reimbursement.
• Educate physicians on coding practices and conventions.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Participate in continuing education programs and audits.
