Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure accurate APC assignment while maintaining high productivity.

Ideal candidates have AHIMA/AAPC credentials and at least 2 years of hospital coding experience, with strong communication and time-management skills for a fully remote role across healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required.
• 2+ years hospital coding experience.
• Experience with observation, injection/infusion, E/M coding.
• Strong remote-work and time-management skills.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation.
• Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter the coded data for hospital statistics and reporting requirements.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel.
