Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold one of the listed coding certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or HCS-D.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certification may be required; experience varies by certification.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions; ability to review complex records.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions; abstract data for reimbursement.
• Coordinate and review work of staff; conduct audits to ensure quality and quantity of coding.
• Educate physicians and staff on coding practices and conventions; provide documentation guidance.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of anatomy, physiology and coding guidelines; participate in continuing education.
