Job summary

UNC Health Nash invites qualified professionals to join our CDI team responsible for capturing data from medical records to support reimbursement, research, and benchmarking. You will work with CDI Auditors and contribute to the clinical documentation improvement program.

This per diem, remote role offers 20 hours per week and engages you in ensuring accurate coding, proper sequencing, and education across teams to improve reimbursement efficiency and patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate in Healthcare / Health Information Technology.
• Graduate from Health Information Technology program.
• RHIT, RHIA and/or CCS AHIMA approved.
• 1 year of experience in Healthcare/Medical Coding.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes for IP/OP accounts.
• Determines appropriate sequencing of codes based on guidelines.
• Identify incomplete documentation and query physicians.
• Collaborate with CDI auditors to obtain documentation for reimbursement.
