Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Records Coder II for a 100% remote role. The coder will utilize ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions to ensure accurate diagnoses and procedures and facilitate optimal reimbursement.

The role requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certifications and a strong grasp of DRG/APC reimbursement, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Collaboration with physicians and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/HCS-D certifications are required or active.
• ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 knowledge with coding accuracy emphasis.
• Understanding DRG/APC reimbursement practices and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions with accuracy.
• Review and abstract data from records for appropriate reimbursement.
• Coordinate with staff to obtain needed documentation and ensure quality audits.
• Educate physicians and staff on coding practices and conventions.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
