Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our Clinical Documentation Improvement Team. You will assign ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT codes for IP and OP accounts, working with CDI auditors to ensure accurate reimbursement and appropriate severity of illness.

Requires an associate degree in health information, RHIT/RHIA/CCS preferred, and 3 years of healthcare coding experience with ICD-9/ICD-10. This is a remote, full-time daytime role with standard 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Healthcare, Health Information Technology or Associates in Nursing (LPN or RN) is required.
• Graduate in Health Information Technology is preferred.
• RHIT, RHIA and/or CCS AHIMA approved licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT codes for IP and OP accounts.
• Collaborate with CDI auditors to obtain clinical documentation for accurate reimbursement.
• Operate equipment and maintain work areas.
• Acquire age-specific knowledge to provide appropriate service.
• Engage in self-development and professional growth.
• Support additional duties as needed.
