UNC Health Rex seeks a skilled Medical Coder to review, abstract, and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT codes for professional services. This full-time role supports remote work options within a UNC Health system.

The position requires 2 years of physician coding experience, surgical coding preferred, and completion of the UNC HCS Rev Cycle Physician Coder Proficiency Test. You will ensure compliance with all coding and billing regulations while communicating with physicians.

Qualifications

• 2 years of physician medical coding experience.
• Surgical coding experience preferred.
• Successful completion of the UNC HCS SS Rev Cycle Physician Coder Proficiency Test

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes with modifiers for professional services.
• Analyze information for optimal reimbursement and resolve coding denials.
• Ensure compliance with coding, billing and data collection regulations.
• Provide information on coding practices to physicians and staff.
• Review provider documentation and obtain missing information.
• Maintain professional certification and continuing education
