Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a CDI Auditor to capture data from medical records for reimbursement, statistics, research, and benchmarking. You will work daily with CDI Auditors and contribute to the clinical documentation improvement process.

Responsibilities include assigning ICD-10 codes, CPT coding for outpatient accounts, and ensuring documentation supports accurate reimbursement. You will collaborate with the CDI team and educate providers while providing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in health information technology or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes to IP and/or OP accounts; Applies CPT codes to outpatient accounts.
• Determines appropriate sequencing of codes based on coding guidelines.
• Identifies insufficient/incomplete documentation within the medical record and queries physicians or flags deficiencies.
• Collaborates with CDI auditors to obtain clinical documentation to support appropriate reimbursement and to increase severity of illness; provides教育 to team and providers.
• Communicates with the business office to resolve coding issues related to billing in a timely manner.
• Serves as a resource to hospital personnel regarding coding.
• Takes an active role in self-development.
• Other duties as needed.
