Ascension Living remotely hires a Medical Coder in Health Information Management to abstract data from patient records and apply ICD, CPT, HCPCS, APC, and DRG codes per AHIMA standards.

You will query physicians to clarify unclear documentation, maintain productivity and quality benchmarks, and participate in internal chart audits while staying current on reimbursement reporting requirements.

Formación

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsabilidades

• Abstract pertinent information from patient records to assign codes (ICD, CPT, HCPCS, APC, DRG) accurately.
• Query physicians to clarify inadequate or ambiguous documentation.
• Adhere to AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding and stay current on reimbursement reporting requirements.
• Meet defined productivity and quality benchmarks as established by coding policy.
• Conduct internal chart audits to verify documentation compliance and provide ongoing education to staff and providers.
