Job summary

Covenant Health in the United States is seeking a remote Medical Records Coder to analyze medical records to determine ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes and ensure proper DRG assignment, contributing to timely billing. You will communicate with physicians for documentation clarification, abstract data for statistics, and support the Business Office in accurate and timely patient information.

This remote role requires adherence to coding guidelines and quality improvement practices, with no licensure

Qualifications

• Equivalent to an Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• No licensure is required for this remote coding role.

Responsibilities

• Reviews ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS and CPT codes per guidelines.
• Verifies data in abstracts and enters clinical information.
• Applies UHDDS standards for diagnoses and procedures.
• Reviews unbilled accounts and adjusts coding timely.
• Reviews case mix reports and follows up on records.
• Participates in coding/abstracting quality reviews.
• Assists physicians with coding questions and clarifications.
• Refers questions to Unit Leader as needed.
• Contacts physicians for clarification when necessary.
• Completes interim billing for rehab and transitional care units.
• Follows safety policies and completes required education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
