Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring a Remote IP Facility CCS/Coder in New Mexico. The role involves coding inpatient/outpatient records, ED, Home Health, and professional services using ICD-9/10 CM, CPT-4, and related guidelines to support reimbursement and research.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years coding experience, and coding credential(s) such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, HCS-D, or RHIT/RHIA with certification within one year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must have any one of the coding certifications: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H or CPC, or RHIT/RHIA with achievement within one year of hire.
• One–three years experience as a coder required.
• Must possess computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with an encoder preferred.
• Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patients' entire current medical record, assigning CPT, ICD and MS-DRG codes for reimbursement and research.
• Abstracts data for the QI department and Joint Commission.
• Accesses multiple systems to complete coding in a timely manner and monitors accounts receivable.
• Resolves pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts.
• Keeps up-to-date with ICD-9/10 CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG updates and regulatory changes.
• Maintains 95% accuracy and productivity per policies.
• Participates in departmental in-services and updates.
