Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hiring a Remote IP Facility CCS Coder in New Mexico, offering full-time work with varied days and hours. The coder will review medical records, assign CPT/ICD codes, and support reimbursement and regulatory compliance while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

Qualified candidates will have 1–3 years coding experience, a current coding credential (CCS or equivalent) and proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Remote work is available from Santa Fe, NM.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must have any one of the coding certifications listed at time of hire.
• One-three years experience as a coder required.
• Must possess computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with an encoder preferred.
• Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patients' entire current medical record, assigning appropriate codes including CPT, ICD and MS-DRG for reimbursement and research.
• Abstracts data essential to the QI department and Joint Commission reporting.
• Accesses systems to complete coding in a timely manner and pursues unsubmitted documentation as needed.
• Resolves pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG, APC and HHRG updates.
• Participates in departmental in-services and updates on coding guidelines.
• Communicates issues to the Clinical Coding Manager & Supervisor.
• Demonstrates knowledge of coding multiple service areas; maintains accuracy and productivity; meets CE requirements.
