Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use projects for electric and telecommunications utilities. This remote role requires translating field data into construction-ready make-ready designs while applying NESC clearances and client standards.

Responsibilities include interpreting field data, resolving design conflicts, developing pole transfers and attachments, and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of make-ready or joint-use design experience; 3+ years preferred.
• Proven utility pole design experience with NESC applications and clearance analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc recommended.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review field collection data, pole information, attachment details, and site conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, and pole loading.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including transfers and attachments.
• Apply NESC requirements and client-specific design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support related work.
• Conduct permitting and easement research for pole ownership and ROW.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve design conflicts and field discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
• Support quality-control reviews and additional project tasks as needed.
