Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use projects for major electric and telecommunications utilities. This remote US role focuses on evaluating pole conditions, applying NESC clearances, and delivering construction-ready designs with collaboration across teams.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in make-ready or electric distribution design, proficiency with CAD/MicroStation, and the ability to work ET-aligned schedules with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design.
• Proven utility pole design experience including NESC application and pole loading concepts.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; familiarity with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of power distribution construction practices and standards.
• Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review field data, pole information, and attachment details for accuracy.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, and modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole transfers and guying.
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria to projects.
• Support end-to-end make-ready design and related overhead distribution work.
• Conduct permitting and easement research as needed.
• Collaborate to resolve design conflicts and field-data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, CAD/MicroStation and related systems.
• Perform quality-control reviews and assist with project deliveries.
