Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor within Payroll Tax Operations to act as a technical lead and SME for complex tax issues. You will own SOPs, coach staff, and orchestrate routines to build workforce capacity while resolving the most challenging escalations with governance over procedures.

The role emphasizes independent decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and rigorous compliance management in a flexible, remote-capable environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state amendments.
• Experience leading or mentoring staff on nuanced resolution scenarios.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Owns escalation SLAs and flags workflow barriers proactively.
• Experience handling sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• Comfort with AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead stand-ups and performance board updates; back-up facilitator.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing changes.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states; ensure audit trails.
• Approve complex amended returns (Federal/State) with accuracy.
