Job summary

Intuit's Payroll Tax Operations seeks a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert. You will drive technical leadership, resolve the most complex escalations, and govern SOPs and knowledge bases.

Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defects, notice response, and multi-state amendments.
• Experience as a lead, SME, or senior specialist with coaching or mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1–TP3 staff and teach resolution paths to build capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching using the SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead team huddles and stand-ups as needed; back up Daily Stand-Ups when the M1 manager is unavailable.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports and advise staffing adjustments to the M1 manager.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices including IRS discrepancies and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails and ledger reconciliation.
• Identify systemic trends and communicate risk-informed recommendations to stakeholders.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings with a compliance-focused mindset.
