Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to support Select Health and the Genetic Laboratory Stewardship Program. The role combines remote work with potential onsite interactions, focusing on testing review, education, and stewardship.

You will educate providers, review coverage policies, and participate in research, with opportunities to present findings at professional meetings. A strong clinical genetics background is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
• Eligibility for ABGC certification at time of hire; certification within one year.
• Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and critically evaluating scientific literature.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies.
• Educate ordering providers on genetic testing options, insurance and billing matters, test results, and medical management.
• Provide occasional patient education and counseling regarding genetic test options or results.
• Conduct utilization review/lab stewardship to determine proper test ordering by provider.
• Participate in individual and team directed research projects and prepare manuscripts for submission.
